Transcorp Group’s power subsidiary, Transcorp Power Plc (TPP) has received recognition for emerging as the highest contributor to Nigeria’s improved electricity generation in Q1 2025, according to the latest report from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). The TPP plant delivered one of the most significant generation increases nationwide, adding 157.58 MWh/h to the grid, making it Nigeria’s top performing GENCO in Q1 2025.
The NERC Q1 2025 Report affirms the critical role of Transcorp’s power assets in strengthening Nigeria’s energy infrastructure and GENCO’s strategic investments in operational efficiency, preventive maintenance, and fuel optimisation. The Plant’s reliability was pivotal to Nigeria’s improved grid stability, which saw zero system collapses and reduced frequency fluctuations during the quarter.
The NERC report attributes Nigeria’s overall generation growth (+10.92% YoY) to increased operational capacity and improved plant utilisation. Transcorp Power played a pivotal role in this upswing, outperforming several peers. The plant’s progress is particularly notable amid national efforts to reduce losses and boost supply to industries.
Transcorp Group continues to invest in infrastructure upgrades and sustainable practices across its portfolio, including Transafam Power Limited’s 700 MW Afam Power Plant Cluster and Transcorp Power’s 972 MW Ughelli Power Plant. These initiatives align with the Federal Government’s push to achieve 20,000 MW of operational capacity by 2030.
